GEMÜ expands its portfolio of pinch valves

New full stainless steel version for more effective cleaning in challenging applications

GEMÜ is expanding its portfolio of pinch valves and offering new variants and combination options for the GEMÜ Q30, GEMÜ Q40, GEMÜ Q50 eSyStep and GEMÜ Q51 model series. Central to this expansion is a new full stainless steel design, which is particularly beneficial for applications with challenging cleaning requirements.

Pinch valves control the flow of a medium, by squeezing together an inserted tube from outside. This means the process medium only comes into contact with the tube. The valves find use in sensitive processes within pharmaceutical technology and biotechnology, especially in single-use applications, and more besides. With the new full stainless steel design, order code 77, not only the compressor but also now the locking ring and the tube holder are made from stainless steel. This means the valve can be cleaned more effectively – a real benefit when corrosive cleaning media are used. One example is cleaning with hydrogen peroxide in insulators, as used in pharmaceutical applications.

In particular, the new full stainless steel version benefits our customers whenever a high degree of cleanability is vital. At the same time, the additional combination options offer more flexibility in terms of design for various biotechnological and pharmaceutical processes, such as chromatography, filtration and filling,” explains Lena Gebhardt, Operational Product Manager for Single-Use at GEMÜ.

GEMÜ is also expanding the combination options within the existing portfolio. In some cases, tube holders and compressors can be combined with additional actuator sizes. Other new options include a tube holder for an external diameter of 9/16 inch (14.3 mm) and compressors for tube internal diameters of 3/16 inch (4.76 mm) and 5/16 inch (7.94 mm).
