Longer service lives thanks to closing and opening limits

In two new videos, a service trainer from the GEMÜ training team explains the setting of closing and opening limits in diaphragm valves.

With this additional functionality, diaphragms in the pharmaceutical industry and for applications in the beverage and foodstuff industry reach a longer service life, which can significantly extend the service life of the valves.

High temperatures, frequent switching and high pulse frequencies put a great deal of stress on wearing parts, such as diaphragms. In extreme applications of this kind, diaphragms are exposed to high thermal and mechanical stress. The accelerated aging which results from this can lead to earlier failure or to premature damage. For example, a travel stop here can prevent a shut off diaphragm that has been softened by the high temperature influence from being compressed too much, which can occur in manually operated valves in particular. By contrast, in pneumatic and motorized valves, the travel stop prevents the diaphragm from being exposed to the maximum closing force during every closing process. Opening limiters, which set the opening stroke, are also explained in detail in the films. These limit the volumetric flow required and prevent full opening, thereby minimizing the mechanical stress on the diaphragm.
