GEMÜ GmbH's manufacturing site in Emmen (Switzerland), a subsidiary of the GEMÜ Group, has been awarded the "CO2 Neutral (Gold)" Swiss Climate Label for the first time in recognition of its wide range of climate and environmental protection measures.
A voluntary analysis of its CO2 emissions in the 2020 financial year revealed a very positive picture for GEMÜ GmbH. With average emissions of 5 tons of CO2 per FTE (full-time equivalent), GEMÜ GmbH is achieving an excellent figure in a sector comparison.
At the same time, the measures implemented by GEMÜ Switzerland to reduce its CO2 emissions were evaluated. The use of 100% green electricity has reduced the share of GEMÜ Switzerland's total CO2 emissions that can be attributed to current consumption to just 0.1%. Furthermore, the results of heating consumption are particularly encouraging. GEMÜ GmbH primarily heats using heat recovery from refrigeration machines, which is why heating consumption is reported as 0 tons of CO2.
Alongside these initiatives to reduce CO2, GEMÜ Switzerland offsets the remaining 613 tons of CO2 emissions by purchasing certificates from the "Renewable Energy from Sawdust" environmental project and has been awarded the "CO2 Neutral (Gold)" Swiss Climate Label for its overall commitment to reducing CO2.
