Production & Logistics

GEMÜ is continuously optimizing all production and logistical processes with a view to sustainable CO2 savings..

Sustainable supply chain management

GEMÜ has created a code of conduct for suppliers. Our suppliers hereby guarantee that they will comply with the nationally applicable environmental laws and standards. They will also work continuously to avoid and reduce environmental pollution, so that future generations also benefit from sustainable handling of resources and the environment.

Efficient transport processes

GEMÜ also relies on its Kanban system for continuous optimization of procedures in transport processes. A result of this is that products are transported all over the world with little packaging in reusable uniform containers. GEMÜ is also continuously expanding the number of suppliers who are connected to the transport container system. Around 40,000 boxes are currently used annually for transport between GEMÜ and suppliers.

In addition, the dispatch type of materials and products is regularly checked, in order to ensure that dispatch is as sustainable as possible.

Efficient production and logistics philosophy

In the upstream process, subassemblies and components are manufactured as part of anonymous preproduction. These are then distributed to logistical hubs and put together in a downstream process for order-specific final assembly on site.

Resource-saving manufacturing processes

Manufacturing processes are continuously checked for room for improvement in terms of sustainability and resource-efficiency, and this is taken into account when restructuring production lines and when procuring new plants.

Energy efficiency thanks to durable products

When considering sustainability, not only direct but also indirect energy consumption plays a role. The more durable and robust a product is, the later it has to be completely replaced and the better the CO2 balance.
