Ensuring that production processes and plants always give full performance involves the ongoing capture, evaluation and processing of data. GEMÜ has developed the appropriate sensors and measurement systems for the process parameters of flow, pressure, temperature and levels. The electrical and optical position indicators display valve positions directly in the system. These displays may also be passed on to the higher-level control units. In conjunction with the valves, the positioners and process controllers form a functional unit that guarantees process stability.

GEMÜ is also a driving force behind the development of sectors and technologies at a higher level. Together with leading manufacturers of automation products and solutions, GEMÜ thus developed the new communication standard IO-Link. With this, sensors and actuators are controlled uniformly, something that was extremely difficult before. A serial communication interface based on a point-to-point connection will transmit digital or analogue data as a serial telegram. GEMÜ is a founder member of the IO Link Consortium, and the redesigned GEMÜ 1235 intelligent electrical position indicator has been fitted with an IO link interface. This makes GEMÜ the first IO link device manufacturer in the valve and process technology sector.
