GEMÜ Switzerland celebrates 45-year company anniversary

A centre of excellence for plastics technology, cleanroom manufacturing and medical systems

This year, GEMÜ Switzerland is celebrating its 45th anniversary. What began in Rotkreuz in 1981 with just three employees has developed continuously over the past four and a half decades. Today, GEMÜ GmbH in Emmen, as well as GEMÜ Vertriebs AG and GEMÜ International AG in Rotkreuz, employ around 250 members of staff.

At its Emmen site, GEMÜ combines plastics engineering, tool manufacturing and cleanroom manufacturing. “The growth of our subsidiaries in Switzerland over the past 45 years has been impressive. We have acquired extensive expertise here, particularly in plastics engineering, cleanroom manufacturing and medical systems. Cleanroom manufacturing – for the pharmaceutical industry, for example – is an area in which we believe there is potential for further development. I would like to extend my special thanks to all our members of staff, who have helped shape this journey with their dedication and expertise,” said Gert Müller, CEO and Managing Partner of the GEMÜ Group, on the occasion of the anniversary.

Comprehensive expertise at the Emmen site

The cleanroom manufacturing factory in Emmen was opened in September 2012. The production departments comply with ISO cleanroom standards 6 to 9, and the manufacturing process is certified to ISO 13485. The range of services encompasses product development, material selection and tool design, through to plastic injection moulding, laser and ultrasonic welding, and printing technologies, right through to assembly, testing and packaging. A considerable proportion of the products are used in the semiconductor industry. The site is also developing very well economically at present, with an exceptionally strong order intake at the Emmen site.

Over 20 years of experience in the medical industry

GEMÜ Medical was established as a business unit specializing in medical technology applications as early as 2003. Today, GEMÜ supports its customers throughout the entire product life cycle – from the initial idea through to research & development and industrialization, right through to series production. These solutions are used in a range of sectors, including medical devices, diagnostics and pharmaceutical packaging, among others. These include applications in surgery, orthopaedics and dental technology, as well as laboratory systems, point-of-care applications and drug delivery solutions.

Proximity to our customers, from our site in Rotkreuz

GEMÜ Vertriebs AG in Rotkreuz looks after customers in Switzerland who require valves, measurement and control systems for demanding processes. Their focus is on the respective application and the specific requirements of the various sectors. In addition, two local service specialists (LSS) are available to customers in Switzerland as local technical contact persons. In this way, GEMÜ is strengthening the care and technical support it provides to its customers directly on site.

Forty-five years after its foundation, GEMÜ Switzerland thereby combines proximity to customers with comprehensive technical expertise. Together with its members of staff, the company is continuing to expand its operations in Switzerland.
