Das 2/2-Wege-Schrägsitzventil GEMÜ 554 verfügt über einen Kunststoffkolbenantrieb und wird pneumatisch betätigt. Die Abdichtung der Ventilspindel erfolgt je nach Größe und Ausführung über eine sich selbstnachstellende Stopfbuchspackung oder über eine kompakte Dichtpatrone. Ein Abstreifring oder die Abstreifkontur der Dichtpatrone schützt zusätzlich die Ventilspindel vor Verschmutzung und Beschädigung. Dadurch ist auch nach langer Betriebszeit eine wartungsarme und zuverlässige Spindelabdichtung gegeben.
